My family didn't have much to do with Christianity, so neither did I. God used a kind pastor and the friendly, welcoming youth group of that church to get me thinking about Him. After 2 years of being part of that youth group, I gave my life to Christ in 1997.
During an English club (run by two former students of Word of Life) I was given the opportunity to come to Tóalmás as a camper, despite my poor family background. During that one week, it also became clear to me that this place was very special because it was full of special, God-fearing people. The following week I came back as a room leader (counselor) and the following September I started Bible school. Those three years between 1998 and 2001 were the best years of my life. It was here that I established my faith and understood that God is far greater than even my weaknesses. As a result, I have been participating and leading various children’s and youth ministry ventures in the past twenty years, in addition to my regular jobs at multinational companies. I remember that when I served as a camp counselor here for four summers I was able to positively impact the lives of many children. This memory has been a priceless treasure! Every smile, every laugh, every game, and every conversation here served the same purpose: to share God with children and teens and to show them that God was not boring nor old, but knowable, good and loving. |
I know that God considers each child and teen precious. God has a plan for everyone! We need to teach children and young people to trust God and to show them His mighty work.
Let me finish with a Bible verse. “We will not hide them from their children but tell the coming generation the glorious deeds of the Lord, and his might, and the wonders that he has done” (Psalm 78:4).
