The Local Church Ministry department is committed to support and encourage Hungarian Churches with the purpose of reaching young people with the message of the Gospel. Along with sharing the Gospel, our desire is to disciple the next generation and prepare them to be leaders in the church. We are working to accomplish these goals through helping Hungarian churches plan, organize, and lead youth events, Bible Clubs, conferences, and Satellite Camps. We are working to strengthen relationships between the churches and local communities through hosting school outreach events and local English clubs. In addition to working with churches in Hungary, we also partner with local church ministries around the world, providing opportunities for these churches to come to Hungary for Senior Trips, Summer Ministry, and Service Projects.
SATELLITE CAMPS
Our purpose with Satellite Camps is to build bridges to reach the youth of Hungary with the Gospel of Christ. We are thankful to have the opportunity to bridge the gap between camp and the local church. Although we have great camps at the Word of Life Hungary property, for many reasons, there are campers across the country unable to attend these camps. As a result, starting in the summer of 2019, we have been able to begin bringing camp to the campers. By partnering with local Hungarian churches, we are able to serve over 150 campers per summer in our Satellite Day-Camp program.

Bible clubs
WOL Bible Clubs exist to help strengthen the Local Church through discipling young people to stand strong in their faith. Our goal is to see these young believers spiritually maturing and equipped to share their faith with their friends and family. We do this through encouraging the development of daily habits that will deepen their personal relationship with Christ.
We specifically seek to build up young people in areas of:
What a privilege it is to see these young people grow in their faith, and make a difference for eternity in their local church, community, and country! |
preaching and teaching
Word of Life Hungary missionaries, as well as guest teachers from the Bible Institute often have the opportunity to preach in local Hungarian churches and schools. This builds a bridge between Word of Life Hungary and local churches and schools, allowing us to partner with them in future ministries as well. It is a great way to encourage our brothers and sisters through the teaching of the Word of God.
With the help of our Bible School students, we have the opportunity to reach into local churches through teaching Sunday School, and leading Bible clubs. These ministries allow us to minister to the local church by helping disciple the next generation of church leaders. |
community outreach
Word of Life Hungary has many opportunities to reach out to local communities. We are able to do this through teaching English in local schools, organizing youth events such as Nerf Clubs, Street Evangelism, and “Community Clean-Up” projects. The purpose of these events is to strengthen the ties between the community and local churches, by putting “hands and feet” to the Gospel.

mission trips to wol hungary
There are a number of Mission Trip opportunities available in partnership with Word of Life Hungary. The main areas of ministry are: Senior Trips, Summer Ministries, and Service Trips.
Senior Trips:
There are a number of ways that WOLH is able to work with Christian Schools to arrange senior trips. Through our contacts in local Hungarian schools and churches, as well as our ministries here on the property, we are able to assist in the preparation and planning of a Senior (Missions) Trip. These trips can be anywhere from 3-10 days in length, and involve a number of activities such as collaboration with local schools and churches, work/service projects, youth programs, sightseeing, and cultural immersion. Please contact Tamás Mezei for more information.
Summer Ministries:
Camps on the WOLH Property: Each summer Word of Life Hungary hosts 8 weeks of summer camps on our Tóalmás property. These camps focus teaching Sports and English, with the overriding emphasis of sharing the Gospel, and discipling each young person in attendance. We are happy to welcome volunteers to help in the areas of teaching English, Sports coaching, or volunteering to help with the general upkeep and operations of the camp.
Satellite Camps: One of the main draws of our Satellite Camps are our English-speaking volunteers. The fact that you are a native English speaker is alone enough for some families to register for Satellite Camp. Whether you are serving with an English intensive camp, or a camp where English instruction comes more secondary, the fact that you are here makes all the difference. We could have the exact same camp with Hungarian English speakers and volunteers, and yet have half the number of campers in attendance. Although the English is appealing to bring the campers in, the purpose of the camp is to connect each camper and each family to the Gospel of Salvation. Through our chapels we are able to share the message of salvation, and through our interactions with the campers, we are able to show them the love of the Gospel in action.
Service Trips:
God has blessed Word of Life Hungary with a great property and facilities on which to base our ministries. As good stewards of our property, a consistent number of renovations and improvements are needed. Service ministry could include things such as heavy and light construction, maintenance, painting, landscaping, clean-up and equipment repair, as well as helping in such practical areas as cleaning, washing, outside work on the grounds, office work and sewing. The most ideal times for a Service Trip will be Spring or Fall, and occasionally the Summer.
