Balázs Farkas
Ministry
Balázs started serving with WOLH in 2017. First, he was serving half time with the camp team (organizing, preparing, helping through camp season, helping with youth groups during the year, etc.) and half time with the IT department. Later, he became a full-time member of the IT team and since February 2020 he has been the leader of the IT department: he helps our staff with technical issues, leads the studio. Karola started serving part time as the Bible Institute’s Admissions Coordinator in January 2019, while she was a first-year student at the Bible Institute. After finishing her studies, she has become full-time staff. She takes part in Children Ministry, and since August 2020 she remained half time at Admissions while becoming the Financial Assistant half time. We both love to serve with Word of Life Hungary, and it is a privilege for us that God lead us here. |
Testimonies
Balázs
I grew up in a Christian family. My parents took me to church every Sunday and to Christian camps each summer. I always had a basic knowledge about God, I knew all the stories about the Bible, and I got saved at a very early age. However, getting older I became a rebellious teenager and the world started to tempt me more and more. In high school I tried to please my non-Christian classmates by going to parties, but on the other hand I tried to be a good Christian in church on Sundays. I tried to live up to both of their expectations.
During one of our class trips, we did some sightseeing. I was walking in front of the group and suddenly, while looking around, I felt a hand on my shoulders as it pulled me backwards. That moment a tram passed by in front of me. That was a warning from God. As I saw the tram passing, I knew it was God’s message for me to stop leading a double life. It was time to serve God seriously and whole-heartedly! That is the reason I decided to study the Scriptures for 2 years at the WOL Bible Institute Hungary. Now, I serve here, and I would like to continue to minister here in the future as well.

I also grew up in a Christian family and I heard the Gospel since I was a child. I do not know the time of my conversion, because I tried to be a Christian all my life I can remember: my parents and grandparents told me a lot about God, I went to church, to Sunday school then youth groups regularly, I always tried to obey my parents, to please God and to be a good kid.
The evening when I became a member of our youth group in church our leader shared his testimony. Listening to his testimony, I realized how empty my life is. And it was because I was in the center of my life and not God. I tried to please everyone, I tried to be good, I tried to do everything well. But I realized that evening that I will never be good enough on my own and nothing can fill that emptiness in me, only Jesus. That’s the time when I gave my life to God and decided to follow him wholeheartedly.
After this meeting I had a conversation with my oldest brother, and I decided that I would get baptized and I would take upon the Lord publicly. My family and my church background helped me a lot in getting to know God and his Word, but when I came to the Bible Institute, I realized how much I don’t know yet! Since then God has been leading me, teaching me, shaping me, and now shaping us together with Balázs. I am forever grateful to Him!
